Capital City Jazz Fest at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD on 6/2/17
The Capital City Jazz Fest is a highly anticipated show every year in Columbia, MD. This year it celebrated it’s 25th anniversary while the venue celebrates it’s 50th.
Day one was originally supposed to have Robin Thicke as support for the legendary R&B singer Charlie Wilson but due to Thicke being detained by immigration officials while traveling in Asia, he was not permitted to return to the U.S. Instead Faith Evans was brought in as the replacement and the show went on without delay. Evans put on a stunning performance which had an appearance by Lil Cease who is on Evans’s new album called The King & I which features vocals by The Notorious B.I.G. Charlie Wilson took the stage later in the night to headline the kickoff concert for the festival and he didn’t disappoint.
The high energy performance had the whole venue out of their seats dancing to his popular songs while being encouraged by the team of talented back up dancers dressed in brightly colored outfits. The Capital City Jazz Fest will continue through the weekend featuring some of Jazz and R&B’s biggest names.
