Cypress Hill at Fillmore Silver Spring on 11/1/17

Cypress Hill came to Silver Spring, Maryland’s Fillmore and played their most well-known hits. Cypress Hill, fronted by rappers Sen Dog and B Real, are one of the more influential rap groups in the 90’s. While do not regularly tour, when they do come to town it brings out a wide spectrum of fans – some traveled hours to see the group.

The show was supported by DJ JS-1 and rapper/beat boxer Rahzel, who is a former member of The Roots. Rahzel showcased his talents by beat boxing and singing songs simultaneously with tracks from popular acts like Black Sabbath and Rage Against the Machine. Cypress Hill’s B Real is currently working with Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello on their new project, Prophets of Rage, which includes Chuck D and all the members from Rage Against the Machine except Zack de la Rocha.

Overall, the show was a great opportunity to see legendary names, and due to their infrequent tour dates, it gave fans a special opportunity to see one of their favorite artists.

Trivium & Arch Enemy at Baltimore Soundstage on 10/31/17

Trivium and Arch Enemy came to Baltimore Soundstage on Halloween and delivered a powerful show that did not disappoint. The impressive lineup started with Fit for an Autopsy taking the stage – dressed for the holiday – with lead singer Joe Badolato dressed as Batman. They kicked it off setting the foundation for what turned out to be an unbelievably high energy show filled with phenomenal guitarists and metal vocals that hit the Halloween mood on the head.

While She Sleeps from Sheffield, England took the stage second and skyrocketed the tempo of the show to a whole other level. Between bassist Aaran McKenzie and vocalist Lawrence Taylor’s frequent visits to the crowd, the band was using the stage and swinging speakers to give the fans everything they could want from a live performance.

While She Sleeps put on a show like no other and set the bar for Arch Enemy to do what they do best. Arch Enemy brought some of their best past work, as well as their material from the new album, Will to Power, which shows a new side of Arch Enemy and brings melodic clean vocals for the first time in the band’s discography. Arch Enemy proved that they can still develop further as musicians even though they are incredibly talented and are producing some of their best content yet. The set provided material that longtime fans love, and they are still able to reach a wider audience as they develop their sound further.

Trivium wrapped the night to a packed venue as costumed crowd surfers battered the barricade and ecstatic fans belted out the lyrics to their favorite tracks. If you can catch this tour, it is definitely one you do not want to miss!

DC101 Kerfuffle at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD on 5/14/17

The Washington D.C. area alternative radio station DC101 had its annual summer festival Kerfuffle in Columbia, MD and hosted some of today’s popular acts. The lucky break in weather made for a perfect day of great music on Mother’s Day. The lineup for the day consisted of Kings of Leon, Weezer, Jimmy Eat World, Fitz and the Tantrums, Catfish and The Bottlemen, Highly Suspect, MISSIO, and The Unlikely Candidates. After several years of Kerfuffle, 2017 definitely reflected one of the strongest lineups they’ve had for the festival.  In a statement DC101’s program director, James Howard acknowledged, “We are truly proud of the artists we have assembled for this year’s DC101 Kerfuffle.  These artists are defining the sound of our generation and they are together for us on one exciting day.”
