311 at Rams Head Live on 11/2/17

311’s Fall 2017 tour made it’s stop in Baltimore to a sold out show at Rams Head Live which had fans eagerly waiting for the doors to get the best spot in the unique venue. The show was supported by D.C. area natives RDGLDGRN, which always put on a great show with their rap/reggae hybrid style. RDGLDGRN did a short set which ended with Green jumping into the crowd, which he regularly does at their shows.

311’s recent album Mosaic was released in June 2017 and some of the tracks off the new album made their way into the night’s setlist. This new album brings another aspect into the genre spanning 311, by bringing a hip hop element to their reggae/rock feel and shows that the band continues to grow while giving their audience something new and fresh to look forward to. Known as a band that continuously tours, 311 more impressively changes their setlist every night to keep things fresh for their fans. This show was no different as 311 fans chanted for the band from before the doors opened until the band took the stage. The enthusiastic fans sang along throughout the full set which shows just how passionate and supportive 311 fans really are. If you have seen this band live before or not, you will definitely want to check out their upcoming shows to hear some of the new music that is being released.

The Werks & Passafire at U Street Music Hall on 9/14/17

The FireWerks Tour featuring The Werks and Passafire made its stop in Washington, D.C., at the U Street Music Hall on Thursday, Sept. 14. Eager fans piled into the small venue early to catch Passafire hit the stage first. Passafire recently released their new album “Longshot” which is the first since their last studio album was released in 2013. While Passafire played some of their big hits, they mostly played songs from their new album – some of which were played live for the first time. On top of their own songs, they covered MGMT’s song “Kids.” Even though U Street Music Hall holds approximately 500 people, Passafire made the entire crowd move and sing along with every word.

The Werks, the multiple-genre jam band from Dayton, Ohio, closed the night with their unique and always-changing-set filled with amazing guitar riffs. They gave the crowd what they came for and then some. Their diehard fans danced along to the magnificent melodies and improvised riffs. Overall, the show was a terrific opportunity to see some popular festival acts in an intimate setting as well as getting to see some of the newer content played for the very first time.

You can catch the rest of The FireWerks Tour on the following dates:

Sept. 16 at The Knitting Factory in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Matisyahu at The National in Richmond, VA on 3/28/17

Matisyahu’s tour made it’s stop in Richmond, VA this week at the National, and while his look may have change since he broke onto the music scene in 2004, he sure can still deliver a powerful performance.

Matisyahu’s conscious and insightful lyrics provide a narrative that makes the audience feel alive and ready to move. This mixed with the vibrant light show and interactions with the crowd to pick the set list makes for a show you don’t want to miss. On this tour Matisyahu plays a wonderful mix of old and new tracks, as well as a few covers sprinkled in.
